Why can't we continue to use the old ID and PIN?

Many students do not feel comfortable using their Social Security Number as a login. Due to this and to software-related issues, it was decided that the new system would not use SSNs as a login. We understand that this will cause some temporary confusion but we feel that in the long-term it will enhance both security and privacy.

What does this error message mean? "Either your connection has expired or you do not have direct access to the system."

The cookies are turned off in your browser. You must have cookies enabled to use any of our systems.

A "cookie" is a small amount of information that a Web site copies to your hard disk. A cookie can help a Web site complete your transaction or identify you the next time you visit.

To turn on your cookies in Netscape, go to Edit/Preferences/Advanced. Click on the button for "Accept all cookies."

Cookies are generally accepted by default in Internet Explorer. If you use IE 4.0, verify your settings by selecting View/Options/Advanced. Use the right-side scroll bar until you see the yellow exclamation point and the word "cookies." You will see three options: always (accept cookies), prompt (before accepting cookies) or disable (don't accept cookies). Make your selection.

If you use IE 5.0 or higher, select Tools/Internet Options/Security. Click on "custom level" near the bottom. Scroll down until you see "cookies." There are two different types -- one stays on your computer indefinitely and one is deleted after you close IE. Select the one you want and then select your option: disable, enable and prompt.

If you continue to have trouble, contact the HelpDesk at ext. 8765.

Why can't I add a class? I can view class schedules, but I can't enroll even though the course I want is still open.

Either the cookies are turned off in your browser or you are a freshman. Freshmen can only change their class schedules by meeting with their advisers.

What if I am locked out of the system after mistyping the password too many times?

The system locks you out if you guess at or attempt to log in using the wrong Login ID or password too many times. If you become locked out, use the Web site's feedback feature to email the Web administrator.

Why can't I view course descriptions? When I click on a course to get a description, no description comes up. All that happens is another window opens and it just has the title of the course.

Not all course descriptions are in the system yet. The Delta 2006 team is currently working with the various college offices to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date course descriptions. Most of those course descriptions will be loaded into the course catalog by mid-October, although more modifications and additions will follow. As soon as these descriptions are loaded into the production database, they should be available for students to view. Therefore, the descriptions will be available for the Winter Quarter registration.

Why did the system dump me? I was able to get to the Campus Connection screen but when I tried to search for a course, I got this error message: "Either your connection has expired or you do not have direct access to the system at this time. For increased security on this site, connections expire after a delay of 20 minutes. If you would like to perform further transactions please return to the Sign On Section."

If you don't move around in Campus Connection for 20 minutes, the system will log you out. This is to protect your information. You simply need to sign on to Campus Connection again to resume your transactions.

Glossary

DePaul Number - A unique seven-digit identifier used to register via NROL.

Campus Connection Login - The Campus Connection User ID is also referred to as your "login."

Campus Connection Password - Your initial password is assigned to you by the Registrar's office. Your password will be the same for both Web and NROL registration. When you first login using the assigned password, the system prompts you to change the assigned password. Be sure to choose a password that is private and unique to you. Remember that if you plan to use NROL, your Password must be the letter "D" followed by up to seven numbers. If you do not plan to use NROL, you may use up to eight characters for your Password as long as the first one is a letter.

SSN - Your Social Security Number or the nine-digit number assigned to you by the university. It is not the same as your new password.

User ID - It is created using the first letter of your first name and up to eight characters of your last name (ex. Thomas Edison = tedison). If a User ID already exists for the same combination, a number is added to make the User ID unique (ex. Tamara Edison = tedison1). If your last name is longer than seven characters only the first seven characters will be used.
