Setup For Printing Using Windows NT

Part 1 - Capturing printer output to selected local printer
  This is not necessary if you have a printer attached locally to your workstation.
Part 2 - Set your run controls to print in PeopleSoft

Part 1 - Capturing printer output to selected local printer

   Step 1 - Determine default Windows printer
  • Click Start | Settings | Printers
  • You will see a list of installed printers for your workstation
  • Right click on each printer listed and look for the check mark next to Set As Default
  • If the check mark is missing, follow the same procedure on other printers until you locate the default printer
  • Make a note of the complete name of the printer
  • Close the Printers window



   Step 2 - Configure Novell Printer Capture
  • Right click on Network Neighborhood on your Desktop
  • Select Novell Capture Printer Port… from the drop-down menu



  • You will see the Capture Printer Port dialog
  • If the Device line is not showing LPT1 click the arrow at the end of the text box and scroll to display LPT1
  • If there is anything after LPT1 on the Device line click Close and skip down to Part #2 of these instructions



  • If it appears as above you can type the full path and name of the default printer you located earlier. Or, you can click on the Browse button, which will bring up the NetWare Resource Browser dialog box



  • Double-click on the DEPAUL Tree then double-click on the appropriate branch - i.e. Lincoln Park users select lpc
  • Next double-click on servers under the opened branch
  • Finally select the item from the list of print queues that matches the default printer you found earlier - see example below



  • Click OK and you will return to the Capture Printer Port dialog
  • It should look similar to the image below
  • Make sure Reconnect At Logon is checked
  • Click the Capture button, then click Close

Part 2 - Set your run controls to print in PeopleSoft
  • Start People Tools from the Desktop Icon or Start | Programs | PeopleSoft SA7.60 | People Tools
  • Select Edit | Preferences | Run Control… from the People Tools menu
  • Select your Operator ID (same as user ID) from the list (see below)
  • Then click the Edit button



  • In the Edit Run Control Dialog select Printer in the Run Output grouping
  • If lpt1 isn't displayed in the Printer/File line, type it in
  • Click OK on the Edit Run Control dialog box to save the change
  • Click OK again on the Edit Run Controls Operator List dialog box to close the dialog
