Glitch with grading and registration processes not expected to occur again

If you could not access the PeopleSoft system's grading and registration processes last week, fear not. The problem was an anomaly and has been solved.

The slow down occurred when the PeopleSoft team was converting and loading ten year's worth of student enrollment history from the legacy system (AIMS).

"The growth in size of certain tables caused processes that access those tables to slow significantly," says Bob Kozoman, associate vice president for the Integrated Systems Administration Group.

While improving the codes for online grading and registration systems, the PeopleSoft technical team restricted user access to 125.

"This was done to ensure that those who succeeded in accessing the applications could successfully process their business," Kozoman says. "The modifications were successful and essentially unlimited concurrent access was restored by midweek."

The system's response will be monitored as another nine years of data is loaded. The team also will watch the response time. If necessary, they might archive older or inactive data, which might involve adding another server.
