Delta 2006 News - June 15, 2001 Save important data now before mainframe shutdown As the University moves from the mainframe computing system to the new PeopleSoft system, Information Services has put procedures in place to enable departments to save important historical information. Departments need to take steps immediately to identify their data needs so that technicians can capture data before the final mainframe shutdown on Friday, June 29, 2001. A "data salvage group," made up of technicians from Information Services and representatives from all University administrative units has identified historical data required for future audits, student transcripts, employee data and other needs. When all needs are identified, IS technology staff will capture this data and prepare it for future viewing. After June 29, historical data may be viewed upon request. (To view historical data, you will need to complete an access form available from Russ Patterson - rpatterson@wppost.depaul.edu). If you believe that your department has historical data needs that have not yet been addressed, please do the following immediately: For student-related data, contact Debbie Harris - dharris@wppost.depaul.edu. She can tell you what information is being saved and will work with you if a new need is identified. For administrative data, contact Carol Damron - cdamron@wppost.depaul.edu. She can tell you what information is being saved and will work with you if a new need is identified. If you have a general question, you may contact Heidi Zwart Healy (hzhealy@wppost.depaul.edu ). |
